Drug use leads to other crimes.

What worries me about drug use is that it inevitably leads to other crimes. People who are addicted to drugs will do anything to fund their next fix. So they turn to robbery to get the money for their drugs.

I know a few people who were mugged by drug addicts.

Perhaps the drug supply should not be controlled by drug dealers, but instead addicts could be registered and receive their supply through the health service.

I know it's not an ideal solution, but it's better than people being robbed.

You are absolutely right... And its not an ideal solution but i think it might work. I used to lived in Sydney and they do have a clinic for drug abuser. They are registered and they go in that clinic to have a dose of drug they use. They even have cubicle where the clients go to inject the drug. I'm not sure if its funded by the govt or private sector. They just started it about few years ago, lots of people thought it was a bad idea but maybe it might help....

Amsterdam is very soft on many drug and of course the green stuff is legal but many many people are mugged in the streets..
