I don't think its appropriate at all. How much this car will cost our government????? Unless taxpayer/s are happy to finance and pay extra tax for these cars!!!!!! I think we should just use taxpayers/government funds in much needed services like educations/health(medical services-need more ambulance please! and better hospitals) and housing ***istance.

I agree with you concern_citizen these cars are far too expensive.... and i dont think it will help to reduce crime rates anyway ..... it will just spend extra money from government funds.

Both points are very true..

I say ‘yes’, Guys give them a break, our guys deserve to have some. Specialy when it comes to motorway patrols, give them some sort of a support, enthusiasm.

Sureley this would be tha same sort of situation as the police carrying guns?We give them really high powered sporty cars and every boy-racer from John o' Groats to Lands End would be wanting to take them on,causing even more tragedies to occur

Think you may find that the old lambo was just public relations tool...
A bit like this Lotus Norfolk got hold of a while back.

They are totally impractical, how many criminals have access to cars like this? Supercars break easy, would be a target for vandals and I don't think pursuit policy would allow you to pursue anyone at the speeds they are capable of. And to be honest, unless you are on the motorway it would be so easy to throw one off your tail it would be ridculous.
However, I'm all for squads such as the ones in Manchester using High powered Imprezzas etc to get a job done.

Citizen,

I would like to, if possible take you up on that point. Are you referring that no money should be used from the government budget to improve the police service? I see the police as a much needed service, in need of much needed investment just about as much as education and health in certain parts of the country.

I'm not in any way saying that police should have these vehicles. I do however believe that police should have the best available equipment within reason to serve and protect the taxpayer!

Do you not agree?

Poolcue,

I do agree with you that police should have the best equipment within reason to protect the TAXPAYER but there are other type of cars that is as reliable as those but less expensive and within reason can still protect the TAXPAYER and the fundings as well.bobby

I think the point is NOT to encourage hi speed chasea as this pushes the criminals even further and risks more damage to the public. The money would be better invested in more helicopters and advanced surveillance equipment.

buying even faster cars means that the police could make mistakes at high speed, the criminals would really then push harder to get away and thus higher risk to public

from what you see on TV it is clear that although still hi speed the crimi's drive slower when no police appear in the rear view mirror or attempt roadblocks etc...but with heli and advanced camera it is way more effective almost 98% seem to be caught and lower risk to public....
