Rammed by another Motorist

I was driving back home late the other night and as I pulled into my road a car directly in front of me slowed right down. I pulled up close behind and he didn't seem to like that. He slowed to a halt then put his car into reverse and rammed right into my car. I reversed slightly, unsure what was going on. He then drove a little further up the road and parked up. I stopped to see what was going on and to get his number plate. He got out of his vehicle and came striding towards me shouting. I decided to drive off.

Is there much that can be done about this? I didn't get his number plate.

Probably not much you can do. Recently I was side swiped by a van, I was too busy trying to calm the children down because the shock terrified them, that I didnt get a number plate.

I spoke to a police officer informally, who said there would be nothing they could do, even if they could track them down :( .
