Last year on Christmas Day my family was attacked by a gang of youths. We're having an incredible amount of difficulty get anything substantial done about it. I've put it all in a blog over the the last couple months because it's either that or go nuts and start killing people. Can anybody help me before this happens? I can't post a direct url to my blog as the site won't let me until I've made X amount of posts so here is my blog address minus the http and www prefixes... I promise you it's not a net advertising scheme, it really is me telling you my story of a victimised family...

My blog is located here bloggerparty.com/blog/bloggingmonkey

Welcome to crimeforums. I checked your blog and I feel sorry for your family's ordeal. What makes it worst is the failure of the system to protect your family from this kind of situation. But never give up. You should not stop sending your story, have you tried to ask help from media? Or send a letter to local newspaper it might help. Do you mind to tell me which area it happened?

Ya, I am sorry about the URL submission, I have made it very strict as you may know lots of Spammers comes into this site just to post there links, I know your not one of them. Anyway I think the way you have posted this URL any person can understand that it’s a URL address from a website and they can visit that site for more details.

Sorry to hear what happened to your family, it’s even harder that it happened on a good day like Christmas. I hope people will read this and be extra careful on the street. In fact it’s now happening quite frequently on all major cities in UK. I know police is trying their best to protect us but still some cases, the system just fails. And that’s why I have put this site for people like you who can post their feelings or share their experiences with others.

“Guys, it’s not only on a special days, but any day you have to be careful whenever you’re on the street specially after 11pm. You don’t know what can happen, be always alert”

Thank you for your kind words. It really helps in a situation like this, it seems like nobody has any sympathy for my family. I mean we're actually a pretty tough and strong-willed family and while me, my Mom and my Dad and my Sister and her Husband are just really angry at everything that's gone on and the lack of any kind of support from any official people it's my sisters 2 children that suffer the most. My niece has said she doesn't want to come visit this Christmas Day in case "the bad men come again."

There's alot I can just choke back but when a little girl is too afraid to come visit her Grandparents it really does choke me up and make me angry.

I think I should explain that my family and I are white and the people that attacked us were white also. As far as I'm concerned though we were attacked because we are "unwelcome in their country" and this makes it a racist attack.

We did go to the local media and were turned away. We asked why they were unwilling to print our story and were told that the person that had attacked our family had asked for reporting restrictions as he found the whole event "embarr***ing".

This is what really annoys me about the whole situation. The law, the courts, the parole service, the police and pretty much anyone else involved in the case are bending over backwards to help the guy that attacked our family re-integrate back into the community (and we still get yelled at by people in the area about how bad it is that we sent this guy to jail) and yet when we ask for help from the police or anybody else we basically get told "what do you want us to do about". In fact to quote one officer who my sister complained to when someone went after my niece "it's nothing to do with me".

Sorry to go on for so long in such a disjointed manner but you are the first person to EVER respond to any of it! I don't even know what annoys me the most about the whole situation, the help he gets, the lack of help we get, the break down of the criminal system, his ability to have reporting restrictions put on, the fact that the police just point blank refuse to help... I could go on but I won't. I will give credit to the police for one thing though, after months of writing to every police officer in charge in the area (she actually got to the Chief Constable for the county before getting a reply) they finally responded and said "Yes we agree that you have been wronged by the local officers. We're sorry and we will look into changing the situation." Not alot of help but at least it's a response!

Once again, thanks for taking the time to reply, you can't believe how much of a help just a simple gesture like that can be. (and sorry for ranting on! :) )

I don't blame you for the URL policy at all. I'm sorry if I sounded angry, I totally did not mean to, it just seems to be my personality these days unfortunately.

I'll warn you as well that it's not just cities that this is happening in, we live in a small village. These wannabes that attacked my family have been living on the same council estate as my parents for a long time, in fact my parents have known their parents for 10 years or so. It's just the way society seems to be going.

When a child does wrong now there's nobody to yell at them or punish them. This gang is a perfect example. For months (I wasn't living here at the time, my parents told me about it when I moved back home) these thugs terrorized a mentally handicapped couple who live on the estate. Smashing windows, kicking the doors in, even going so far as to p*ss through the letter box and smear dog sh*t on the windows.

Whenever the police were called they would just basically say "Well there isn't alot we can do about it, you have no proof it was them apart from you saying that you saw them through the window. Do you have any other witnesses?". To which of course the answer was no, there's only her and her husband seeing them do it. It's amazing the temporary blindness people get these days whenever they see someone in trouble ie. the neighbours who just closed their curtains and switched their lights off.

One night the womans brother came and this little gang attacked the house so went out and grabbed one of them. He basically told the guy if he comes back and does it again he'll take a beating for it. The guy he grabbed then went off and phone the police. Within ten minutes the police were there and arrested him for threatening behaviour based solely on this little thugs complaint! It's incredibly hard to believe but it's 100% the truth. I think this is the problem these days. Everybody is so concerned with protecting criminals rights that innocent people like ourselves are made to pay the price.

It's a sad situation but unfortunately it's getting more and more like this all the time.

I don't mind you asking where I am at all. I'm in North Wales, which I think is what makes the situation hard for people to see as racism. I think I should explain that my family and I are white and the people that attacked us were white also. I was devastated about what happened to your family especially to the young ones. It must be so traumatic for them. I think you should take your nephew and niece for counselling because it might affect their behaviour in some ways. I do understand how you feel and how angry you are. But never do any drastic decisions. If it makes you feel better by writing here you are most welcome and you just pick the right forum. By voicing out what you feel might help to release the pain and anger in your heart. So feel free to share your experience as it might help other people who have the same ordeal as your family.
