Hi all, I really need some help from anyone, even if its a suggestion.

In January 07 a friend of mine mentioned to me that they had come across a profiles of me from a google search.

The profiles had my name, location, interests all correct and stated that I was looking for a bit of fun with another man outside of my marriage.

The google searches found over 30 profiles of me all looking for a gay relationship with all my details.

Forum entries also uncovered over 50 statements made by someone posing to be me with terrible quotes.

I went to the police straight away and started writing to all the companies to pass any information they had to the police.

I discovered 6 IP addresses and passed them onto BT. BT told me that they had identified the customer who was responsible but was unable to pass on any information due to Data Protection.

Police have been unable to obtain the information from BT unless they get a court order.

A Hotmail account used to create all these profiles was uncovered by me, guessed the secret answer which was my football team and changed the password. Passed this onto the police and they have not done a thing.

It has been nearly 1 year and still nothing has been done, can someone please help. I need suggestions or help from people with similar experiences.

PM or post a reply which ever, this is eating me up.

Regards

Jay

have you tried writing to these dating forums and proving that these are really you and that the entries are fake? and requesting that the accounts be closed and posts etc to be deleted...maybe quoting the police ref number and providing the details to your police complaint in electronic form to prove your case...I would guess they would be more willing to do smthg thanthe police themselves.

I understand your issue 100% especially if you are married that could create a real issue that is not real..if you know what i mean.

if you have effectively the control of the hotmail account then login to the dating forums and request your password from them and user account if necessary and then close each account removing the profile..i.e forgotten password and request new password....

the police are only really interested if a real crime is committed eg ID theft with crimes committed using your ID, money or other crime...even if your wife divorced you they would not react...

I had for 6 yrs someone who managed to get bank details and use the online sex webcams and that took me changing bank and writing to the companies and costed loads ringin America and other countries at certain times ofthe night togetthe accounts cancelled....that involved money i.e crime ....no-one was interested and I could prove it was not me due to dates, times, Ip etc etc

sorry.....
