Do you agree that you should be able to be fined or even sentenced to jail time for sending spam?
I think I read somewhere that a company who was spamming many emails was penalized and they had to pay huge amount of money. I will check if I can get some info on that company
read this > Attorney General Eliot Spitzer today filed a lawsuit against a Niagara Falls-based "spammer" that sent hundreds of millions of emails to consumers whom it falsely claimed had requested the emails.

I do not spam. So I don't have to worry but I was just wondering what everyone's views is on this.

I think fines would be sufficient. I do not believe people should serve time for sending out unsolicited emails.
Nah I don't think that they should be incarcerated...however I believe that they should be fined without a doubt...especially if they give away the emails to some spam company.

they should be fined but not go to jail. spam email just a bit annoying but there is a a legal way to send email and not consider as a spam. google with "spam email policy"
I don't get spam in my yahoo account, just my msn.

I don't agree with this. Most people get spam because they entered their e-mail address into some mailing list. Spam is an annoyance, not a criminal offense.
Not only that but, how do you legally identify something has spam?

Well any falsely claimed ads is a crime so its a criminal offense they should be fined but the question is will they learn? Will they stop sending spam emails?
Hmmm, I think spam is like getting regular mail in your mail box from companies who are trying to advertise. There is nothing you can do about that. I don't see it as a big deal. just erase it. People get so irritated by little things as if it interrupts your life in any way.
Of course you can do something about that, block those spam emails. And of course its annoying when you continuously get those spam mails.
Yeah but it's not a major part of your life where you aren't able to frekaing function or something. Its just spam.

Spam can lead to a bigger problem so I think you should not ignore it but should dealit properly like blocking those emails, for your own safety.
