Assuming like me you believe James Hanratty was innocent-[and if you dont of course i respect your view],but if you are with me on this then i wonder
if anyone out there thought about the role of John Gregsten's widow within the investigation of the A6 murders? Shortly after the crime had been committed, Mrs Gregsten was on a day out in Blackpool coincidentally and unbelievably, the same day that James Hanratty was there on business. She saw him on the seafront and identified him immediately to a policeman as the murderer. She said she had an "Intuition" he was the man.Although she was not present at the crime, and had never seen him before. Why would the police arrest a man on this ridiculous whim? Peter Alphon later admitted He had been hired by a man [or woman?] and paid £5000 to "frighten" John Gregsten and Valerie Storie who had been having an affair..The only person with a motive to do this would have been his wife, Mrs Gregsten. Its since been verified that Alphon did indeed have this sum of money paid into his bank account. He of course confessed many times publicly and privately to the murder, and even wrote to the then Home secretary. This is now common knowledge, but what puzzles me is that obviously Alphon was never charged,if he had the trail would have led back to disclose the criminal contract he accepted for this money, and inevitably Mrs Gregsten. or a third party. £5000 was an awful lot of money in those days, so the Gregtens were apparently quite well heeled . perhaps do i smell corruption of officials to keep her name [friends in high places?] out of this affair?....i wonder what you think..After all lets not forget whoever paid this contract and set this chain of events in motion,is an accessory to murder.
