Crime Statistics

Mr. Administrator

I really enjoy writing post in this site. I noticed from past post/s law student who come and visit the site always ask for statistics of crimes here in UK. Can we have a monthly crime statistics in this forum. I just thought it will be very helpful and interesting.

Thanks for the idea, I had this in my mind but had some problems in inserting large data into a single thread. I have also seen many students asking this info. Let me think of a way to add this stats data into this board.

there are lots of places to find your local crime statistics. Local Government, Police Websites, Statistcs and Home Offce websites, Upmystreet, Crimestatisticsdotorg.... its easy to obtain crime figures if you know where to look.

Better still if your a police analyst we have a special website for it!

Hi,

these sites do have crime stats, but are they really local? They provide information for towns usually down to ward level which means the results are averaged over a lot of people (say around 5000 for a ward, although this varies). As such they are a poor guide to 'local' crime rates.

Some police sites (west midlands, yorkshire) do provide information at a lower level , for groups of around 800 houses. This is much more useful, although the data is somewhat difficult to get hold of elsewhere in the UK (try making a FOI request to your local police force!)

If you're interested I can point you to some free crime maps which really rank crime in England locally...
